1907 Chief Engineer of the Great North of Scotland Railway.
1913 Designer of the new Aberdeen Joint station.

James Alexander Parker was a keen mountaineer. He is third person confirmed to have climbed the 'Munros' (between 1883 and 1927) and climbed mountains in Switzerland (where his visit to Basle inspired the new design for Aberdeen Joint station. He designed the circular summit view indicators on Lochnagar, Ben Macdui and Ben Nevis.
