Autumn is here and my favourite train, the 'Leaf Train' (official name MPV) is back in operation. Here it is on its way back to Glasgow from Helensburgh. Notice the spray coming from the middle section of the train (RHS of photo), presumably to remove fallen leaves from the track (please correct me if anyone knows better!) 4/19

06/10/2010
Beth Crawford

Cardross

Glasgow, Dumbarton and Helensburgh Railway

'The Leaf Train' passing Cardross in October 2011 - back for another glorious year of leaf disposal! 5/19

13/10/2011
Beth Crawford

Craigendoran Junction

Glasgow, Dumbarton and Helensburgh Railway

'Leaf Train' waiting in Craigendoran Loop is passed by a SPT train heading for Helensburgh. 6/19

19/11/2011
Beth Crawford

Cardross

Glasgow, Dumbarton and Helensburgh Railway

My traditional annual photograph of the 'Leaf Train' on its way back from Helensburgh. There have been some changes since last year - there is now a branch of Waitrose at Craigendoran Loop where the train pauses whilst awaiting permission to head back east. I wonder if the driver has time to grab a free coffee while he's waiting. One also can't help but wonder why Waitrose does not use rail freight for deliveries when the railway is so close... 9/19

08/10/2014
Beth Crawford

Cardross

Glasgow, Dumbarton and Helensburgh Railway

It's 'Leaf Train' time again.
