Here we have a short bay and station sidings on the left see image <a href='/img/19/856/index.html'>19856</a>, a barrow crossing in the foreground, an industrial siding (into <I>Brush</I> - above the feathers) in the background, and a four-track main line. The area once occupied by sidings on the left is shortly to host 122 new dwellings. Notice the abbreviation of the <I>Falcon</I> works on the right, to about half the previous length. 1/29</p><p>13/11/2009<br><small><a href='/contributors/Ken_Strachan'>Ken Strachan</a></small></p> <h4><a href='/locations/L/Loughborough_Midland'>Loughborough Midland</a></h4><p><small><a href='/companies/M/Midland_Counties_Railway'>Midland Counties Railway</a></small></p><p>Looking South-East over Loughborough station in November 2009. Nice awnings, but needing a lick of Hammerite. Notice the sign and chimney on the <I>Brush Transformers</I> works in the background. see image <a href='/img/45/117/index.html'>45117</a> 2/29</p><p>13/11/2009<br><small><a href='/contributors/Ken_Strachan'>Ken Strachan</a></small></p> <h4><a href='/locations/L/Loughborough_Midland'>Loughborough Midland</a></h4><p><small><a href='/companies/M/Midland_Counties_Railway'>Midland Counties Railway</a></small></p><p>The famous neon sign on the Brush Falcon works at Loughborough. Bit of a cluttered foreground. The sign was illuminated on my return, but I ran for the train - it was a 40 minute wait for the next one. Notice that Loughborough is now one of three stations advertising connections to East Midlands Airport. see image <a href='/img/26/414/index.html'>26414</a> Notice also, the handy tower-ette (not Tourette!) for train spotters on the left. 3/29</p><p>13/11/2009<br><small><a href='/contributors/Ken_Strachan'>Ken Strachan</a></small></p> <h4><a href='/locations/L/Loughborough_Midland'>Loughborough Midland</a></h4><p><small><a href='/companies/M/Midland_Counties_Railway'>Midland Counties Railway</a></small></p><p>Spoiled by progress. I'm afraid the 21st century is finally catching up with this formerly complex station see image <a href='/img/26/320/index.html'>26320</a>. The bay and siding have now been lifted as work on new flats continues. More passenger traffic, I suppose. 4/29</p><p>05/06/2010<br><small><a href='/contributors/Ken_Strachan'>Ken Strachan</a></small></p> <h4><a href='/locations/L/Loughborough_Midland'>Loughborough Midland</a></h4><p><small><a href='/companies/M/Midland_Counties_Railway'>Midland Counties Railway</a></small></p><p>As part of the continuing works at Loughborough station, the approach road has been rotated from a South-West to a Northern direction. Hence, this informal, but informative, signposting on said road. 5/29</p><p>30/09/2011<br><small><a href='/contributors/Ken_Strachan'>Ken Strachan</a></small></p> <h4><a href='/locations/L/Loughborough_Midland'>Loughborough Midland</a></h4><p><small><a href='/companies/M/Midland_Counties_Railway'>Midland Counties Railway</a></small></p><p>Here is the ticket office referred to in a previous caption see image <a href='/img/36/167/index.html'>36167</a>. A splendid bit of woodwork. 6/29</p><p>30/09/2011<br><small><a href='/contributors/Ken_Strachan'>Ken Strachan</a></small></p> <h4><a href='/locations/L/Loughborough_Midland'>Loughborough Midland</a></h4><p><small><a href='/companies/M/Midland_Counties_Railway'>Midland Counties Railway</a></small></p><p>The answer to the age old question: do you build the lift shafts or the new footbridge first? Work in progress at Loughborough Midland in September 2011 to keep our Team GB Olympic athletes happy see image <a href='/img/35/953/index.html'>35953</a>. 7/29</p><p>30/09/2011<br><small><a href='/contributors/Ken_Strachan'>Ken Strachan</a></small></p> <h4><a href='/locations/L/Loughborough_Midland'>Loughborough Midland</a></h4><p><small><a href='/companies/M/Midland_Counties_Railway'>Midland Counties Railway</a></small></p><p>So much for the goods yard see image <a href='/img/30/501/index.html'>30501</a>; but the platforms are being doubled in length - a rare example of trickle-down to the regions from the 2012 Olympics, as Loughborough University will be the official preparation centre for <I>'Team GB'</I> athletes. All 3 platforms are at work here, with a 222 in platform 1, an HST arriving from the North into 2, and a 158 disappearing under the distant bridge from 3. Light engines tend to pass on the fourth track - to the right in this view. 8/29</p><p>30/09/2011<br><small><a href='/contributors/Ken_Strachan'>Ken Strachan</a></small></p> <h4><a href='/locations/L/Loughborough_Midland'>Loughborough Midland</a></h4><p><small><a href='/companies/M/Midland_Counties_Railway'>Midland Counties Railway</a></small></p><p>Another informal, but effective, direction sign at Loughborough Midland on 30 September see image <a href='/img/35/943/index.html'>35943</a>. Perhaps EMT staff know more than the rest of us regarding future generations of MML motive power? 9/29</p><p>30/09/2011<br><small><a href='/contributors/Ken_Strachan'>Ken Strachan</a></small></p> <h4><a href='/locations/L/Loughborough_Midland'>Loughborough Midland</a></h4><p><small><a href='/companies/M/Midland_Counties_Railway'>Midland Counties Railway</a></small></p><p>Things you thought you'd never see again... a waiting room with an enquiries window. What a good idea! This room opens onto platforms 2 and 3, and has railway staff behind a sliding window who can answer your questions. Just as well, as the main ticket office is located off platform 1. This picture was taken in 2011 - but the hairstyles and clothes could have come from the 1980s! see image <a href='/img/19/852/index.html'>19852 for comparison</a> 10/29</p><p>30/09/2011<br><small><a href='/contributors/Ken_Strachan'>Ken Strachan</a></small></p> <h4><a href='/locations/L/Loughborough_Midland'>Loughborough Midland</a></h4><p><small><a href='/companies/M/Midland_Counties_Railway'>Midland Counties Railway</a></small></p><p>I must admit, the Loughborough ticket office looked a bit bland just in white see image <a href='/img/36/271/index.html'>36271</a>. More sprucing up for the Olympics! 11/29</p><p>27/04/2012<br><small><a href='/contributors/Ken_Strachan'>Ken Strachan</a></small></p> <h4><a href='/locations/L/Loughborough_Midland'>Loughborough Midland</a></h4><p><small><a href='/companies/M/Midland_Counties_Railway'>Midland Counties Railway</a></small></p><p>The new order at Loughborough: an up Class 222 Meridian passes below the new footbridge on 27 April 2012, under the watchful eye of a suit with a 'phone.
