This line extended the Great Southern and Western Railway from by Dublin Kingsbridge to North Wall Goods [GSWR], connecting with other lines at Church Road Junction by the North Wall. It was in two portions, making use of the North Wall Extension (Midland Great Western Railway) between Glasnevin Junction and West Road Junction. This portion was later replaced by the Drumcondra and North Dublin Link Railway to produce an almost entirely independent route (excluding the short section at Church Road).
