Remains of the once extensive yards of Bilston Glen Colliery, closed in 1988 and seen here in 2007. At its peak the pit employed 2,300 and topped Scottish coal production figures, with the majority of the annual tonnage latterly supplied by rail direct to Cockenzie power station. The Roslin branch once entered centre background and veered off to the right in front of the new housing towards Bilston Glen viaduct (see image 54620). The route is now part of a public walkway.
