Tay Viaduct [Perth]

North view of Perth city centre showing the River Tay and of course the Wee Tay Brig. A wooden bridge was opened here by the D&PR in 1849 so that trains could reach Perth, having originally terminated at Barnhill. The first bridge was twice washed out by flooding and, circa 1865, this steel girder replacement was opened - and still stands ...apart from a few scares.
