When the M80 was built (partly along the course of The Switchback) the Garnkirk and Glasgow Railway, which had enjoyed a straight course for over 150 years, was diverted. The original course is to the left and the new route over an impressively massive bridge is to the right. Balornock/St Rollox shed was to the left. View looks east.
