Aerial view of the Connel bridge on 5 October 2008. The bridge was built by Arrols Bridge & Roof Co see image 18249 to carry the Ballachulish branch of the Callander & Oban Railway over Loch Etive and opened on 20 August 1903. A roadway was added alongside the line in 1914. The Ballachulish branch closed in 1966 and today the bridge carries single file road traffic controlled by traffic lights.
