Edinburgh Princes Street

One of Dalry Road's Black 5s no 45477 prepares to take the 2.5pm to Manchester out of Edinburgh Princes Street station in August 1964. The seven - platform terminus, with its 850 foot bayed roof, was opened by the Caledonian Railway on 2 May 1870 as a replacement for the temporary Lothian Road station that stood alongside. Princes Street station closed completely on 6 September 1965 and was largely demolished by 1970 see image 1060.
