Glenrothes with Thornton

As well as having an odd, parish-like name, Glenrothes with Thornton is an odd station in that it is situated between a junction (Thornton West) and the point at which the tracks diverge, so that the bi-directional platforms are effectively on different lines. It could be said to be two single platform stations standing opposite each other! Fife Circle trains like this Inner Circle service on 21 March formed by 158 705 use Platform 1. The far fewer  trains from the Dunfermline side on to the main line at Thornton North Junction use Platform 2, which sees no departures from early morning until late evening.
