A view looking to the buffer stops at Bathgate Goods Yard. At this date the yard was used to store and unload freight trains carrying new cars. This yard was located to the south of the 1986 terminus. The line to Airdie had been lifted only a few years before and its trackbed was still in very good shape. This ran off to the left in the foreground. Bathgate Upper station was off to the left. The site of the yard is now occupied by various retail outlets. The station can be seen on the right hand side. The station was fitted with an attractive screen to spare delicate passengers from the view of the goods yard.
