Kipps Shed
Holmes N.B. Class Y9 0-4-0ST no 68104 photographed out of use at Kipps in August 1963. Built in the latter years of the 19th century around half the class (but not this example) were permanently coupled to wooden tenders. Many of these versatile engines were hired out by BR from time to time, with 68104 spending a period at the Phoenix Tube Works in Rutherglen in 1961. The locomotive was cut up at Cowlairs a month after this photograph was taken.
