One of the aerial ropeways serving Claughton brickworks still operates from the claypits on Claughton Moor. The other was dismantled in the 1990s. This is the final bit of the ropeway where the buckets cross the A683, drop into the wheelhouse and discharge their load of clay. View towards Lancaster. The Lancaster to Wennington railway was behind the brickworks and the trackbed runs very close to the A683 both sides of Claughton village. Map Ref SD 563664.
