Darlington Shed
Gresley class B17 4-6-0 no 61600 Sandringham stands alongside the breakdown crane shed on the east side of Darlington MPD following withdrawal from Stratford in July 1958. While conflicting information exists regarding these events, it would seem that 61600 had been sent to Darlington in error and should in fact have gone to Doncaster for disposal. It further appears that the error was noticed soon after 61600 arrived at Darlington, with the locomotive subsequently being taken south to Doncaster, where it was broken up at the end of the following month.
