Padstow
The final station on the L&SWR route to Cornwall was the fishing town of Padstow on the River Camel. The town lost the former L&SWR connection in October 1966, however services did continue until the end of January 1967 from Bodmin. The photo (looking east towards Wadebridge) shows the station building and platform only 30 months after services had finished. The trackbed has already taken over as a car park and the station building looks like it has been taken over by the local bus company. On the extreme left of the photo is the fish shed where refrigerated railway wagons were loaded up to be taken to fish markets in the south of England.
