The 10.10 Speyside freight trip from Aviemore trundles through Grantown-on-Spey East on 11 April 1968. The original train loco had failed and this replacement had been sent all the way from Perth. Following the withdrawal of passenger services in 1965, Grantown was the first block post and crossing loop east of Aviemore, but with one train a day in each direction any such crossing must have been an unusual event.
