At Maryhill Park the Glasgow, Dumbarton and Helensburgh Railway crossed the River Kelvin on a large viaduct (right). When the Stobcross Railway opened it crossed the River Kelvin by a second equally large viaduct (left) Maryhill Viaduct [SR]. At track level the viaduct appears to be one bridge, four tracks wide. Today only the Helensburgh viaduct is in use. How remarkable this second viaduct is given that the two routes were about to merge immediately to the east.
