Redfern, Sydney
This is the station at Redfern, in Sydney, photographed from a passing train. It was used by the Rookwood Necropolis Railway whence funerals left for the eponymous 'city of the dead' located on a 250 acre site near Haslem's Creek. It ran from 1867 to 1948. [In London, similar services once operated from alongside Waterloo station, serving Brookwood Cemetery and from Kings Cross to the North London Cemetery at New Southgate.]
