In the days when there was only one station in town a Class 117
approaches Dunfermline from the north. Shortly afterwards the cascade caused by the introduction of the first Class 170s would see an end to 117s in Scotland. For some time they had been used only on peak time services in Fife and occasionally on the Bathgate line. Note the fixed danger signal, presumably required in connection with Charlestown Junction and its crossover, a little way to the south.
