'The King sits in Dunfermline Town, drinking the blude-red wine' goes the anonymous ballad 'Sir Patrick Spens'. There's no suggestion that anyone would be seen drinking wine of any colour in this Dunfermline Town. I have to report though that an empty bottle of a proprietary potent tonic wine was seen in the undergrowth nearby. Tsk. The smell of lorne sausage, another inexplicable Scottish favourite, usually fills the ticket office here, but the kiosk is not yet open on the morning of 5 March.
