Lancaster Green Ayre steam shed was sited near to the station of the same name alongside the single track link line to Lancaster Castle station, which is now the cycleway seen here alongside the River Lune. Greyhound Bridge, seen curving away to the right, carried the direct line to Morecambe until it closed in 1966 and was soon afterwards turned into a road bridge. The steam shed site, right in the city centre, is now covered by a Sainsbury's supermarket.
