The site of Lancaster Green Ayre station and shed in 2012. The station was top far left, alongside the river, in what is now public open space. From there Greyhound Bridge took the Midland line over the Lune to Morecambe Promenade. After the 1966 closure this was converted to a road to alleviate Lancaster's notorious traffic problems. To the right of Greyhound Bridge a supermarket occupies the site of Green Ayre engine shed and the single track link to the WCML at Lancaster Castle station climbed through the trees at the foot of the photo.
