A rail-served coal yard once occupied the site between Haymarket
station and the rail depot. The tracks had gone by the time I knew it, but at least one merchant, Bruce Lindsay Waldie, survived into the nineties. By the time of this photograph in January 1998 the site had been cleared and was looking as bleak as the weather. The site is now occupied by office buildings accessed by a road opened in 1999 called 'Haymarket Yards'.
