Newhaven [Leith New Lines]

View west from Craighall Road overbridge towards Newhaven Junction in January 1970. The Caledonian's Leith New Lines, running from here to Leith East and the docks, opened in August 1903 with passenger stations planned at Newhaven (South?) as shown here, Ferry Road and Leith Walk (Manderston Street). Despite work being well advanced on all 3 stations none was ever opened and the line was singled in 1917 after only 14 years. This particular section was closed completely in 1966.
