The old Great Western signal box at Totnes has been put to good use as the station buffet, accessed from the footbridge. The lever frame has been removed of course but the view from the tables is just the same as that enjoyed by the signalmen in operational days. Alongside the signalbox is Brunel's old Atmospheric Railway engine house, which was never used for its original purpose because the atmospheric system was abandoned after serious problems around Dawlish and Starcross.
