Scaffolding and work platforms in place around the northern section of Newbattle Viaduct spanning the South Esk on 5 March 2011. The 1847 structure will carry trains on the Borders Railway over its 0.5km length from 2014. [Work to be carried out includes pointing & repair of masonary piers, replacement of broken rail banding around piers, repair and replacement of brickwork and replacement of frost-damaged coping stones.] See image 42764
