The Warriston and Trinity areas seen in Bartholomew's 6-inch plan of
Edinburgh for 1953-54. This shows just part of the fight between early railway companies for the lucrative Leith and Granton Harbour markets. Of the lines in this extract all that remains today is a rump of the Abbeyhill to Granton line, entering at the bottom right and terminating just across the Water of Leith and serving Powderhall Refuse plant. Apart from the south to east curve at that point all the darker lines shown here are now walkways, which is something.
