Masham
Part of 'Old Station Yard' at Masham, North Yorkshire, photographed on 27 June 2011, in use as a caravan and camping park. The restored goods shed is now a cafe. Beyond the fence, the former station master's house is the home of the family operating the site. A single storey station building adjoins the house although the platforms have been infilled. Former railway cottages stand in the right background. The corrugated iron-roofed garages to the right were adapted from the old coal-drops. Opened in 1875, the single line Masham branch left the Leeds Northern at Melmerby North Junction and was served by 4 trains a day from Ripon. Masham lost its passenger service in 1930, although the line itself survived until 1963.
