Spring Vale
On a wet September afternoon a Clitheroe to Manchester Victoria service climbs south from Darwen and passes the remains of Spring Vale station, closed in 1958, seen from a bridge overlooking the station site. Just round this bend 150140 will enter Sough tunnel from where it will begin the descent to Bolton. See image 33698 for a view from a steam special passing the same point in 1968.
