Riccarton Junction

A V2 hauled train of Presflo cement wagons from Oxwellmains rests on the former Border Counties Railway at Riccarton in 1963. In its latter years the Waverley Route saw a rich variety of the modern generation of freight wagons on through freight trains from the east and north east of Scotland to a wide variety of English destinations - the notable exception being Freightliner trains, which were not cleared for the route due to the square profile of containers which would have fouled the W6 loading gauge.
