Old Oak Common

One of the BR Met-Cam 'Blue Pullman' sets comes off the flyover into Old Oak depot, running west alongside the retaining wall of the Grand Union Canal. These relatively short-lived units (1960-1973) ended their days on the Bristol Pullman see image 4554 and, while not a great success in themselves, did help to pave the way for the development of the IC125 HSTs. Photographed from a passing DMU heading east towards Paddington in 1972, the year before the last units were withdrawn.
