Power on and flanges squealing as 66201 lifts the bitumen empties from Preston Dock up the last few yards of the 1:29 into Preston station See image 34939. I remember Class 40s pulling long rakes of empty 16 tonners up this incline and it was a lot more dramatic than the apparently effortless way the modern locos do it. The earlier westbound slog up to Copy Pit with the loaded tanks will have been far more taxing to the Class 66.
