The Open Golf Championship 2012 saw trains on the Blackpool South branch terminating at Ansdell, which allowed a half hourly service to be provided to Preston. Here a large number of passengers emerges from one of the two 4-car Sprinters in use and makes their way to the adjacent course entrance. See image 22394 for a similar view of the station prior to its spruce up for the Open.
