Engeln

Railscot contributor Ian Dinmore strides purposefully in search of another master shot, having just alighted from the Vulkan Expess at the Engeln terminus of the Brohltalbahn in the summer of 2002. This metre gauge railway starts at Brohl on the left bank of the Rhine north of Koblenz and climbs into the Eifel hills. On this occasion the motive power was railcar No VT30 which is clearly quite powerful to judge from the trailing load but was nonetheless on the point of overheating by the time it reached Engeln.
