Probably seemed like a good idea at the time. Shortly after leaving Tweedbank and crossing the River Tweed into Galashiels the Waverley route passed below a bridge carrying Winston Road. This view north west on 1 March 2013 shows the site of the now infilled bridge straight ahead, with the walkway on the right diverging from the trackbed and climbing to meet Winston Road. The close-up on the left shows an exposed part of the infilled bridge projecting from the embankment.
