Early preservation days on the East Lancashire Railway with Manchester Ship Canal No. 32 Gothenburg in steam on the short demonstration line in 1979. The operational line to Rawtenstall is on the other side of the boundary fence, still seeing occasional coal trains at this time. When the line re-opened to passengers the demo line was downgraded to stock storage, for which it is still used today.
