Oakley Junction
Looking West from a convenient layby on the A6 North of Bedford across the Midland Main Line, the remains of the Bedford and Northampton Railway's line to Northampton can be clearly seen as a curved boundary between fields in the background. I would love to see this line reopened - especially a new station at the wonderfully named Newton Blossomville - but fear it would not serve any strategic purpose. Olney may be choked with traffic in rush hour, but most of the drivers seem to be heading for Milton Keynes, not Bedford.
