During maintenance of the Caledonian Canal locks in 1996 it was possible to see the detail of the pier which once supported the swing bridge for the line between Fort Augustus station and 'Pier' on Loch Ness. The pivot point was the right end of the pier, which has since been removed. The end of the through platform is marked by a yellow generator on the right.
