This was a single track hand operated swing bridge immediately north of Fort Augustus station and its through platform on the west side of the station. The bridge pivoted at the south end.
Just to the north was the Oich Viaduct crossing the River Oich not far from the south end of Loch Ness.
The line continued north to Fort Augustus Pier.
Passenger trains ceased in 1906. The bridge went out of use in 1915, officially closing in 1924.
