Summerlee Heritage Centre
Following withdrawal in 1990 EMU 311103 was converted at Shields depot for use as a Sandite unit on the Ayr line, suitably modified with Sandite tanks fitted within the driving trailer. It was later reclassified as class 936 and renumbered in the departmental series as 936103. Following replacement by new MPVs, the unit was donated to Summerlee, where it is seen in 2005 after repainting, standing near the entrance alongside one of the centre's Marshall Fleming steam cranes.
