Schynige Platte

Beginning the descent from the 6520' summit station at Schynige Platte is He2/2 locomotive No. 61 Enzian with two passenger coaches and an empty goods wagon. The line is 4.5 miles long and winds down 4614' to the junction station of Wilderswill where it connects with the Bernese Oberland Bahn (BOB) trains. This rack railway was built in 1893 and electrified in 1914 with all locomotives in use being over 100 years old.
