Cardrona

There wasn't much to Cardrona when the railway arrived: just an adjacent mains and nearby Horsburgh Castle Farm. Some public housing appeared between the wars, then a large golf hotel was built over Horsburgh Castle Farm and there has been some more recent housing. Despite this growth the old station seems no longer to be the village store but 'Nashy's Coffee House'. Local lads turn up to find that the X62 on the Edinburgh to Melrose route isn't going their way. The half-hourly service is not something the railway could have ever matched, I venture.
