A mid-morning service for Edinburgh calls at Wester Hailes on 20/03/2017. The station opened in 1987, the same year as neighbouring Curriehill reopened. Despite getting the same trains however Wester Hailes clocks up far fewer passengers. This is probably for socioeconomic reasons; this is not really commuter country. However footfall will surely improve with an increased service come electrification of the whole line.
