On 22 April 2017, the 13.43 service from Barnstaple to Exeter and Exmouth halts briefly at Crediton signal box to return the single-line token from Eggesford to Crediton to the signaller. The single line from Barnstaple to Crediton - originally engineered for double-track throughout, but never fully doubled - now has just one passenger loop, at Eggesford, where drivers exchange tokens with the signaller from platform cabins, using the 'No Signaller Token Remote' system, which is low-cost but time-consuming.
