Dunglass Junction [West]

311107 heads east with Dumbuck hill in the background and the (in 1990) new path in the foreground. The train is running on the short section of the CR's L&D which was retained between Dunglass Junction and Dumbarton East Junction preferentially over the NB route, which did not have a station in the east of Dumbarton. Some of the old NB route became the oil terminal at Bowling. Behind the camera was a junction between the two routes after BR installed a connection in 1960, the CR route east closing in 1964. The panel in Bowling signal box controlled the junction, and line as far as Bowling Swing Bridge box, for those four years.
