Woodacre Crossing
Express Sprinter 158761, probably brand new and on test, runs south on the WCML approaching Woodacre Crossing on 2nd March 1991. These units never saw regular use on this stretch of line, apart from the early years of the Virgin franchise when five sets were used on services between Scotland and Manchester, but in 2018 are being introduced on Barrow to Manchester Airport services. I recall thinking the 158s were a very stylish design when new and they haven't really aged down the years.
