An intermediate station on the Stoke Ferry to Denver branch, Abbey and West Dereham station lost its passenger service as early as September 1930. Goods traffic continued, however, and trains passed through here on behalf of the nearby Wissington sugar refinery until 1982. This scene was recorded on 4th July 1981, shortly before an enthusiasts charter train arrived. Most of the rest of the country was indoors to watch John McEnroe finally defeat Bjorn Borg at Wimbledon.
