352 kmh: China Railways. From 21st September 2017, China Railways have speeded up the fastest (1 or 2 stop) trains between Beijing and Shanghai using new CRH400AF stock which is apparently capable of 400km/h. The new trains - known as 'Fuxing' or 'Rejuvenation' (or 'Renaissance') - travel up to 350km/h in service and have shaved just under 30 minutes off the previous 4h 50m 1318km journey (more than double distance between Edinburgh and London). It's difficult to get a seat on the new faster trains unless you book at least 3-4 days in advance. Train G13, the 10.00 Beijing South to Shanghai Hongqiao reaches a top speed of 352kmh (218mph) between Beijing and Jinan. In fact the train only twice reached and passed 350 kmh on the journey, with speed kept at a relatively constant 347kmh. 25 September 2017.
