This picture, full of the 1980s, is part of a poster on the history of Waverley on the hoardings around the Platforms 5 and 6 works. The paucity of trains on the Solari suggests it was a Sunday, but even so. How things have changed. It was mandatory then that principal stations had shiny floors (to look like airports?) and ticket barriers had been removed so as not to impede the passenger. Subsequently it became equally vital that stations had safe floors and ticket barriers were reinstalled to 'protect revenue'.
