Looking south west across the capped shaft of Sourlie Pit towards the trackbed of the Doura branch. There was a junction here with a spur going off south west to serve Fergushill Pit numbers 29 and 30. Sourlie was numbered 26 according to the OS maps. Prior to 1900 the main branch continued south from here. Sourlie was the last pit in the area served by the branch and closed some time in the mid 1940s not making it into the nationalised era. A small private drift mine existed on the site possibly into the early 1970s. The track from here back to Blacklands Junction had been lifted prior to 1949 according to aerial photographs taken at that time. The small square opening in the cap just goes down a foot or so to another level of concrete.
